Cordia Reels In Two Out-Of-State Transfers

HAZARD, Ky. -- Two out-of-state basketball transfers have enrolled at Cordia School in Knott County.

Chris Hudson, a 6-foot-5 forward, and Akeem Williams, a 5-foot-11 point guard, have both left their home state of Texas to play for recently-hired head coach Rodrick Rhodes.

It is believed that the duo was brought to Eastern Kentucky by Rhodes' high school connections in the Lone Star State. Before accepting the Cordia job, Rhodes served as an assistant coach at Texas-Pan American University.
Williams, who previously attended Hightower High School in Sugar Land, Texas, holds college interest from Duke, Kansas State and New Mexico. While at Hightower, he led his team to a state tournament appearance.
Sources say that Hudson is receiving interest from Baylor, South Carolina and Texas Tech.
The two student-athletes are expected to live in the school's dormitory with their coach.
Both will be sophomores in 2011-12.

These guys are going to be fun to watch! I don't know if any team in the area will be able to stop them. It will be an interesting season!

You are correct that the two Texas boys have arrived at Cordia. It is also possibe that Akeem Williams' brother (who is a junior and a football player) liked the community and team so much that he plans to come back to attend Cordia. Some corrections: Coach Rhodes has a house on campus. He does not live in a dorm. Cordia no longer has functioning dorms; hasn't had in a number of years. There's basketball fever on the "Creek"!
